CLASS ETIQUETTEPlease be ready to commence class at the appointed time. If you are late it is your responsibility to ensure you are adequately warmed up and join the class without causing too much distraction. Likewise if you need to leave early please advise your instructor & leave without distraction to the rest of the class. Ensure you allow adequate time before leaving to self-stretch and cool down to prevent cramps and potential injury. IMPORTANT - Please advise your instructor if you have an injury at the beginning of each class. This is for her information only, it is ultimately your responsibility to care for your body and operate within your own capabilities. If you are injured or otherwise physically limited and it affects your ability to perform certain movements please advise the instructor, we can perhaps offer an alternate method of performing the movement and therefore avoid further injury from forcing your body to do something it cannot or is as yet unable to do. Please turn PDAs/Mobile phones off or onto silent for the class duration. If you require otherwise please advise your Instructor before class. Questions are encouraged, we are not mind readers & it is the only way to check your understanding if you are unsure of something! :o) Well behaved children are permitted to observe provided they are able to keep themselves amused. If they cause too many interruptions you and they may be asked to leave.
Class and Workshop Styles TRIBAL FUSION CHOREOGRAPHY | This style is a blend of Tribal Style Bellydance with its strong posture fused with other modern and traditional dance styles. Particularly designed for those wishing to explore the use of choreography and solo dance expression.
Who is it for? Continuing classes for Experienced Dancers OR Adventurous Beginners. This is a challenging dance form and while all levels of skills are welcome, those without any dance experience may find this style extra challenging.
What you will learn: Each term there will be a choreography or combination to learn. You will learn or refine each of the movements that make-up that choreo/combo. Apart from the movements - expect to spend extensive time working with isolation technique, pop/locks, posture & arms. There will be repetitive exercises and drills to develop muscle memory & capability. Each class also includes warmups and cooldowns with particular attention to stretching/lengthening exercises and some core strengthening sections. What to wear: You can wear any type of clothing that you have freedom of movement in and is preferably somewhat formfitting including leotards, tights, sport tops, midriff tops, any form fitting top, track pants, yoga pants, pantaloons (harem pants) ....Please note that Full skirts are NOT worn for this style of dance. Please do NOT wear very baggy Tshirts or skirts as I must be able to see your posture & legs. You are welcome to bring a coined or fringe belt/scarf to tie around your hips. | MODERN GYPSY | Modern Gypsy is a blend of Spanish Gypsy and Romani Gypsy dance forms infused with a contemporary flavour. This innovative new style is mélange of the most powerfully evocative and celebratory dance forms from the centre of the orient. Who is it for: This class is mixed-level and is open to both beginning and continuing/ intermediate students. What to wear: The positioning of your arms and general posture need to be visible so something form-fitting on the upper body is ideal. A skirt on the bottom (the bigger the better). |
